This is the final project from 3D Character Animation with Jeff Styers. All quarter we focused on learning the biped tool in 3D Studio Max. Using that, Styers built a simple obstacle course with which we were to animate our biped "free running" throughout.
For inspiration and motivation, I used a lot of YouTube videos showing different moves free runners do in their crazy stunts.
For the final project in Advanced 3D 4, we were given two assignments:
1.) Construct a usable biped rig from scratch.
2.)Use that rig in the given obstacle course.
We were given from the start of class (around 1:00pm) until about 6:00pm of the same day to finish both assignments.
This is one of the most fun things I did at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh! This is a project for Intermediate 2D Animation with Mike Schwab. The assignment is the "Sneak, Head Turn, Reaction." Fairly self-explanatory, no?
Well, for those of you not familiar with animation... if you watch the video, you'll see the character, Maksim, is up late at night and he sneaks into the kitchen to grab a snack. He looks around with hunger and excitement, licks his face and goes for the fridge. He rips off the door and pulls out the largest donut ever! Maksim then shoves the whole thing down with one gulp and a swipe of the shirt sleeve to wipe off crumbs.
This is a very familiar exercise for any animation student. Again, from Intermediate 2D Animation with Mike Schwab, we were supposed to study the Floursack character, come up with different backgrounds for it, and create a short animation using many different key expressions based on said background.
In the video you see my floursack is a bandit and he breaks into a house. He sees a large bag of money and grabs some bills off the table. Before he can even start escaping, he hears someone coming and throws the money in the air and jumps out the window!
This was an assignment for Introduction to Digital Compositing with Sunil Ketty. The task was simple in instruction: pick any TV network and create a spot for it. The execution could be as imaginative and spectacular as possible.
I used 3D Studio Max to create the logos and ending sequence. After Effects was used to composite it all together.
This was meant to be the opening video to the website of the design group I am in, but we decided to go in a different direction with the website. The logo is still being used, however.
I created the "Pixelyptic world" sphere in 3Ds Max with a sphere and the plug-in Greeble to generate the "buildings." I used the Type tool to create the X, edited the spline, then booleaned the X into the world, textured it, then animated the camera flying over it with motion blur.
I took that into After Effects and created the lens flare that goes around it. Jordan Musselman created the sound file for the animation.
This is a personal project I did to teach myself more about Adobe After Effects. I also integrated Illustrator and Photoshop in the creative process.
The technique is called Kinetic Text, but I also employed a bit of 3D and 2D animation. Everything you see was created in After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
The song is credited to Will Smith and is called "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air." I did not get any copyright use for it.
I got this idea from a
VideoCopilot.net tutorial. He used a video of his friend for an "Iron Man-esque" shot. I didn't have any usable footage so I used a high-res picture of Tokyo Tower and created a futuristic security camera look. Enjoy!
